Most people are fascinated by being above the clouds and seeing the world from above. Hiroyuki Masuyama conserves this special moment between heaven and earth in an endless panorama. Frankfurt – Bangkok – Tokyo – Honolulu – Los Angeles – New York and back to Frankfurt: Masuyama’s camera takes a photo every 20 seconds on these routes. When combined digitally, the approximately 7500 individual images form a snap-shot-like simulation of a 42-hour flight around the world that does not exist in this way.

Weltreise is a photographic documentation of space and time and questions to what extent our perception of the world is influenced by a change of perspective, technical possibilities, and our own experience. At the same time, the question arises how a journey around the world might look like at present and in the future.
